Upgraded Rectifier Diode Kit
Replaces Powermate p/n: 0034843.01
This is an aftermarket drop-in replacement for Powermate P/N: 0034843.01.  The OEM part was rated for 22 Amps and 600 Volts... this is a bit marginal for the application, making it a rather failure-prone component.
This upgraded replacement is rated for 25 Amps and 1200 Volts.  The higher amp-rating will result in a much cooler-running part, making it less prone to failure and the high voltage rating will make it less likely to fail due to voltage spikes, which can occur when heavy generator loads are connected and disconnected, upsetting the brush tracking.
Furthermore, this particular rectifier features a lower threshold voltage (V
FTH
), resulting in improved voltage build-up when the unit is first started.
The package is identical, and will drop right in place of the existing part, making this an easy replacement.  Please note that there are
two
diodes used in each generator, so if you have to replace both, you will need
two
kits.
