Replaces Homelite p/n: 95672
This is an aftermarket replacement for Homelite P/N: 95672.  The OEM part was rated for 12 Amps and 400 Volts.
This
upgraded
replacement is rated for a whopping 50 Amps and 1000 Volts.  The higher amp-rating will result in a much cooler-running part, making it less prone to failure and the high voltage rating will make it less likely to fail due to voltage spikes, which can occur when heavy generator loads are connected and disconnected.
This kit requires some minor alteration, (drill a mounting hole), for installation.  Typically, you would find this necessary anyway when replacing the OEM Rectifier, because it is installed onto a plastic post that usually breaks off when you try to remove the old part.  We include all the required mounting hardware and new cable ties in with the kit.  What's more, we include our own detailed 6-page technical bulletin with this kit that describes detailed diagnostic tips, step-by-step installation procedures with color pictures and other helpful operational descriptions and service tips.  We consider this to be a fairly straight-forward service procedure.

Why did your Rectifier fail?  The most common cause of rectifier failure is brush arcing due to the brushes being worn out or corrosion on the slip ring.  Brush arcs contain voltages that can be at a level of a few thousand volts, capable of damaging nearly any rectifier.
Always check the condition of your brushes when replacing a rectifier!
Another common issue are loose connections which can arc, causing significant voltage spikes and high heat.  Assure that all connections are good and tight - particularly those going to the rectifier and brushes.  We carry an upgraded Brush Kit (P/N: A03035) and usually have brush holders in stock.  We also carry replacement Capacitor Assemblies, which are often damaged when a rectifier fails (P/N: A02860).

to lose the residual magnetism in a generator when the rectifier fails.  A

ing the rectifier, you may have to flash the field on your generator, and this tool will save you a ton of trouble!  It's a good thing to know about.  Some of our customers have reported that following the manufacturer's instructions of using a battery across the brushes has resulted in failures of their rectifiers.  This is understandable, since the arcs that can be produced by that method can result in voltages well in excess of 1000V - which will destroy nearly any semiconductor!  Even our part is not impervious to that kind of torture, which is why we recommend using the Field Flasher Tool.  It is the only sure-fire method!
