These remarkable and stunning specimens are from the Paloma Mine in Peru that closed 10 years ago. This is "old stock" from one of my very large suppliers that found a few boxes in their large warehouse.
This one is a beautiful mix of tiny clear quartz crystal needles, realgar (red color) and galena crystals (gray color). There are also a few tiny pyrite crystals (gold color). The orange and yellow minerals are orpiment.
This one is form my personal collection and is simply stunning!!

MINERAL DESCRIPTION
Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's continental crust, after feldspar. There are many different varieties of quartz, several of which are semi-precious gemstones. Especially in Europe and the Middle East, varieties of quartz have been since antiquity the most commonly used minerals in the making of jewelry and hard stone carvings.
Galena is the natural mineral form of lead sulfide. It is the most important ore of lead and an important source of silver. Galena is one of the most abundant and widely distributed sulfide minerals. It crystallizes in the cubic crystal system often showing octahedral forms.
Pyrite is the most common of the iron sulfide minerals This mineral's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold.
Chalcopyrite is a common mineral and is found in almost all sulfide deposits. Fine crystals of chalcopyrite have a unique character and can add to anyone's collection. The name Chalcopyrite comes from the Greek word chalkos which means copper and the word pyrites which means to strike fire.
Realgar is an arsenic sulfide mineral, also known as "ruby sulphur" or "ruby of arsenic". Its name comes from the Arabic rahj al-ġār or "powder of the mine").
Orpiment is a deep orange-yellow colored arsenic sulfide mineral and forms as a byproduct of the decay of another arsenic mineral, realgar. It takes its name from the Latin auripigmentum (aurum − gold + pigmentum − pigment) because of its deep-yellow color.
