    Description

    Fort Rock Improved Rectifier Board
    Replaces Powermate p/n: 0063525
    This board is an aftermarket
    upgraded
replacement for Powermate P/N: 0063525, (which also replaces 00
    62455, 0062458 and 0062974).
    IMPROVED DESIGN:
    This
    after-market
board has been redesigned to address the most common failure-modes associated with the OEM boards - including the OEM version of 0063525.
Beware of other sources selling the same old failure-prone OEM 0063525 boards
that have been sold for years.  Fort Rock Technologies studied the various failure-modes associated with the OEM's designs and addressed them with this replacement.
    COULD THIS REALLY BE TRUE?
It has recently come to our attention from several customers that the OEM board supplier has changed the capacitor on their board to one that is taller than the original one.  Now it doesn't fit inside the brush head!  Their solution?  They are telling customers to simply cut a hole in the brush head for the capacitor to poke through!  Egad!  Rest assured, our boards drop right in and fit properly, without cutting holes and jeopardizing product safety!
    INCLUDES JUMPER KIT:
    What's more, we are including P/N: S0064066
    FREE
with each board!  This Jumper Kit is required if you are converting from a much older board design (like 0062455, for instance) or if your present connector is damaged or corroded.  This part is normally sold separately and costs an additional - depending on who you get it from.  If you find you need it, you'll have it... if you don't, put it away in your "bag of tricks" for use later.  Basically, this jumper splices onto the existing yellow wires to convert the direct-soldered connections over to a plug-in connector.
    OPTIONAL BRUSHES:
You can add a pair of brushes to the order for only .25!  Worn out or damaged, arcing brushes can damage the rectifier boards and cause them to fail.  Always check your brushes when replacing the rectifier board!   When you check out, you can select whether you want just the replacement board or the board + brushes.
    VERY IMPORTANT:
This is a rectifier board.  Coleman-Powermate also used a
    regulator
board (0065649) that is very similar in appearance and size.
This is not a valid substitute for the
    0065649
    board!
If you are not certain as to which one you need, contact us and we'll help you sort it out.
    Improvements:
    1.  The printed circuit board is made from high-end FR-4 material and features plated
through holes for far-greater resistance to vibration and mechanical failures.
Traces are doubled-up on front and back sides for better current-carrying
    capability and better heat dissipation.
    2.  The bridge rectifier circuit is rated for a full 10A using rectifiers rated for 5A @
    800V.  OEM boards use 2A 600V diodes
    in parallel
in an attempt to create an 8A
bridge circuit.  This change addresses the most common electrical failure mode.
For those who appreciate stupid engineering mistakes, please Google-search:
"Is paralleling diodes a bad idea?"...  (for the record, yes, it is a bad idea!)
    3.  Finished assemblies are silicone conformal-coated for protection against moisture
and dirt contamination.  OEM boards are not coated!
    4.  Fits directly into the existing brush head without cutting holes!  We use a 1 inch
tall capacitor that is rated for 3000 hours of operation at extreme temperatures
ranging from -40F to 221F (-40C to 105C).  This capacitor is designed to last!
    5.  Made in USA
It is very common for worn-out brushes to be the cause of failure on the original board... always check the condition of your brushes!  They are very easy to change while you have the Brush Head off of the unit.

    Please ch
eck out our Jam Labs E-Z F
ield Flasher Tool... it is very common
to lose the residual magnetism in a generator when the rectifier or capacitor fails.  A
    f
    ter replac
ing the board, you may have to flash the field on your generator, and this tool will save you a ton of trouble!  It's a good thing to know about.  Some of our customers have reported that following the manufacturer's instructions of using a battery across the brushes has resulted in failures of their rectifier boards.  This is understandable, since the arcs that can be produced by that method can result in voltages well in excess of 1000V - which will destroy any semiconductor!  Even our design is not impervious to that kind of torture, which is why we recommend using the Field Flasher Tool.  It is the only sure-fire method!
