Dresden Hand Painted Artist Signed Friedrich Meistersinger Wagner Opera Plate
Fantastic large porcelain plate. Decorated in the Royal Vienna style with a central raised and beaded gold floral medallion over ivory framed by gold gilding and beading. With a hand painted scene depicting a scene from
Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg
with three seated Renaissance women, a man holding what appears to be a lute, and two women and a man behind him. The scene is segregated by four raised and beaded gold gilt urns with flowers. With a blue and ivory border with gold raised gold gilt floral scrollwork and birds, and small quatrefoil shaped vignettes in blue with raised gold instruments framed by gold beading. Signed by the artist Friedrich. Marked on the reverse Hand Painted Hutschenreuther Real Dresden Saxonia. This mark was used between 1918 to 1945. Also signed with the name of the opera scene Meistersinger.
Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear to the gilding.
Measures approximately 10 3/4 inches wide.
