    Description

    I purchased this toy circus about 20 years ago from an estate sale pretty much in the well loved condition it is in. My daughter enjoyed playing with it, though usually it was just displayed.  This is a rare handcarved and hand painted wood circus toy made by Allison Studios in Oak Park, Illinois. I discovered during researching the piece that a number of pieces are "missing" from this collection (tan horse, black panther, ring leader, 2 ushers, the actual tent and circus floor).
    The pieces definitely show wear and some damage which i will note for each:
    1.  Wonderful red wagon trailer for the lions and tigers measures 9" across by 7" tall.  Front has a red wood hitch designed to be "pulled" by animals (not clear which or if some are missing)
    2.  lion and tiger in good condition - no missing pieces;
    3.  Adorable grey donkey in good condition;
    4. Larger grey elephant with missing ear and broken tusks;
    5.  2 larger and 1 smaller black and white horses; the larger horses have holes in them which makes it seem they are to "pull" the wagon;
    6.  Cute small dog and stool for his performance;
    7.  A policeman with a missing foot and his arms are disconnected (but still have!)
    8.  A clown with a missing foot
    9.  Collection of various wooden dowels for possibly setting up a tent
    10.  Sign, mounted for display
    The circus is charming even though it has wear and tear.  Makes an adorable display!
